Library staff may delete call number prefixes and suffixes, unless the prefix or suffix is associated with an item. Note prefixes and suffixes may not be deleted even if they are associated only with items that are deleted.
To delete a call number prefix:
- Select Cataloging –> Call Number Prefix
- Check the box for the prefix that you wish to delete
- From the Actions menu, choose “Delete Selected”
- If the prefix is not associated with any items a message will display indicating that the prefix has been deleted successfully
To delete a call number suffix:
- Select Cataloging –> Call Number Suffix
- Check the box for the prefix that you wish to delete
- From the Actions menu, choose “Delete Selected”
- If the suffix is not associated with any items a message will display indicating that the prefix has been deleted successfully
If the call number prefix or suffix that you are trying to delete is still associated with one or more items (active or deleted), you will see a message like the following:
