There are three options for receiving issues. In each case, first find the bib record for the title you wish to receive and choose the “Serials” button. Then, use one of the following options.
Option 1:
- From the Serials Menu, choose “Manage Subscriptions”; Note: If your library has multiple subscriptions, first choose the desired subscription
- Choose the “Manage Issues” tab
- If your library circulates issues of the selected title, be sure to check the box to “Barcode on receive.”
- Select one more more issues to receive
- Choose “Receive selected” from the Actions menu (or by right clicking on the issue)
- The “Receive Items” screen will display
- Enter a call number and barcode for the issue(s) you are receiving
- Click to “Save”
Alternatively,
- If your library does not circulate issues of this title, leave the “Barcode on receive” box unchecked.
- Choose “Receive selected” from the Actions menu (or by right clicking on the issue)
- The issue(s) will be received without creating item(s)
Option 2:
- From the Serials Menu, choose “Manage Subscriptions”; Note: If your library has multiple subscriptions, first choose the desired subscription
- Choose the “Manage Issues” tab
- If your library circulates issues of this title, be sure to check the box to “Barcode on receive.” If this box is not checked, the issue will be received, but an item will not be created.
- Select “Receive Next”
- The “Receive Items” screen will display
- Enter a call number and barcode for the issue(s) you are receiving
- Click to “Save”
Option 3: Quick Receive (old staff client only)
The “Quick Receive” option on the Serials menu provides a streamlined way to check in the next expected issue of the serial title. Note: if you are not sure that you have received all prior expected issues, do not use this option.
- From the Serials menu, select “Quick Receive”
- Select the subscription to which the issue belongs. Note: this must be selected even if you have only one subscription
- Click “OK/Continue”
- The “Receive items” screen will display
- Input the call number and barcode and click on “Save”
Filtering Items
When receiving serial items, you may choose the “Filter Items” option to limit the display to issues with specific status (e.g. Expected). This can be helpful when there is a long list of serial issues displayed. Note: this setting is not “sticky.”
