There are five different types of holds, based on which items are eligible to fill the fold.
Title Holds
The patron wants the first available copy attached to a title record.
This is the most common hold type. Any item attached to the record can fill the hold (unless restricted by specific library policies.)
The system selects an available item and requests it via the pull list. The system may also capture an item that is being checked in.
Hold Type: T
Title holds may be placed by staff or patrons
Part Holds
Part holds are used when some or all of the items attached to the record are only part of what the record describes. For example, a DVD set has 6 discs, and some libraries circulate the whole set as one item, and other libraries divide the discs and circulate Discs 1 – 3 and Discs 4 – 6. Each library can decide how they want to handle the set, so there may be various combinations of items on the same record. Catalogers enter any item that is less than the full set with using a Part, so the patron can indicate what items should be used to fill their hold.
When the user choose to place a hold and at least one item has a Part, the system makes you choose from among the parts. If not all items have parts, it will include Complete Set as an option for the “unparted” items.

Call Number Hold
Relatively rare hold type, this option lets staff limit a hold to any item sharing a specific call number.
